Dr. Shelley Miyasaki is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and the American Board of Oral Medicine. She is the Assistant Chief of the Dental Service at the San Francisco VA Health Care System. Dr Miyasaki received her Dental Degree, a Ph.D. in Oral Biology and certificates in Oral Medicine and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of California San Francisco. Following her graduation from the UCSF Dental School, she did a 1 year General Practice Residency at UCSF, followed by a combined Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery/Oral Medicine and Oral Biology Doctoral program at UCSF. She then entered private practice while completing her dissertation. This was followed by an appointment as a staff OMFS at the VA and a faculty appointment at UCSF. Dr. Miyasaki is in charge of a large outpatient dental department at the San Francisco VA and continues to provide surgical care to both inpatients and outpatients at the VA. Her clinical interests are in Dentoalveolar surgery, Implant surgery, teaching and Health care simulation. Dr. Miyasaki teaches Medical Emergency Health care simulation at VA’s across the country and is also a reviewer for multiple journals. She is a delegate to the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and is a member of multiple professional societies.
