Dr. Tay was born in Los Angeles and grew up in Irvine, CA. He attended the University of California, Berkeley as a Regent’s and Chancellor’s scholar and received his BS in Nutritional Science: Physiology and Metabolism. During his time at UC Berkeley, he performed scientific research at UCSF, studying the effects of maternal obesity in offspring behavior in mice, and sequencing candidate genes for corpus callosum agenesis.
Dr. Tay decided to continue his education at the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, where he obtained his DMD degree in 2016. While in dental school, he continued his interest in research, and was selected to present oral presentations on oral squamous cell carcinoma at the American Association for Dental Research and Greater New York Dental Meetings for multiple years.
After graduation from dental school in 2016, Dr. Tay practiced in the Sacramento area as a general dentist for 4 years, where he gained clinical proficiency in new dental technologies, including 3D printing, digital dentistry, guided dental implant placement and CEREC. During this time, he decided to further pursue his interest in endodontics and specialize.
When he is not in the clinic, Dr. Tay enjoys spending time with his family and rooting for his fantasy football team. Dr. Tay is honored to be back in the bay and is looking forward to providing patients with the highest quality dental care as a part of the UCSF dental team.
