Dr. Rishi Jay Gupta is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon with fellowship training in sleep apnea surgery. Dr. Gupta serves as Section Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Health Care System and as the VA VISN 21 Sleep Surgical and Dental Director that oversees Northern California, Hawaii, and Nevada. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at University of California, San Francisco. Dr Gupta is a principal investigator in research associated with diagnostic and management of temporomandibular disorders and sleep apnea and is engaged in entrepreneurship activities related to healthcare-based innovation and early adaption of technology. He has published numerous articles and chapters, lectures at regional and national meetings, and is a reviewer for several journals. He is an active member of several professional societies including American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and International Society of Sleep Surgery and serves in leadership roles in the Academic Senate at UCSF and in organized dentistry including San Francisco Dental Society and California Dental Association.
