Dr. Rebeka Silva is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon and the Chief of Dental Services at the San Francisco VA Medical Center. She received her DMD degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University and obtained advanced training in Hospital Dentistry from the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, NY. Following this, she completed her residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in NY. After her training, Dr. Silva entered private practice in New York City for 4 years before moving to California with her family. She became full-time faculty within the UCSF Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and was named Chief of Dental Service at the affiliated San Francisco VA Medical Center. Dr. Silva leads a large clinical department that is nationally recognized within the Department of Veterans Affairs for outstanding work in oral and maxillofacial reconstructive surgery. She has published numerous articles, co-authored 3 textbooks, and obtained key research grants. She is active in many professional organizations and government committees, lectures at regional and national meetings, and is a reviewer for several journals. Dr. Silva’s clinical and research interests are in temporomandibular joint disorders and reconstruction, botulinum toxin therapy, jaw reconstruction, surgical simulation, TMJ Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and bone grafting and jaw reconstruction.
