Dr. Lloyd Harris grew up locally in Northern California. After completing his DDS degree cum laude in 1990 at the UCLA School of Dentistry, Dr. Harris returned home to complete a residency at the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at the UCSF School of Dentistry. He then continued as an assistant clinical professor in the Center for TMD and Orofacial Pain at UCSF from 1991-98 while opening his private practice in Mill Valley, Calif., in 1993. Due to the amount of work needed to run a private practice, Dr. Harris worked full time in his practice until 2015, when his desire to return to teaching brought him back part-time to the UCSF School of Dentistry. In October 2018 he returned full time when he was named clinic director of UCSF Dental Center's Buchanan Dental Center; in 2019 he also was named program director of the School of Dentistry's International Dentist Pathway program. In 2020, Dr. Harris became a group practice leader for the third- and fourth-year IDP students at Buchanan. Dr. Harris teaches full-time in the predoctoral clinics and sees patients at the Faculty Group Practice at Buchanan.
