Dr. Brian Bast is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon at UCSF Medical Center, who specializes in reconstructive, orthognathic and temporomandibular joint surgery as well as facial trauma, dental implants and pathology. His research interests include facial trauma and minimally invasive surgery.
Bast earned a dentistry degree at Harvard University and a medical degree at UCSF, where he completed a surgery internship and residency. He also completed training in anesthesia and microsurgery in orthopedic surgery at UCSF. Bast is a member of several professional societies including the San Francisco Dental Society, California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Medical Association and American Dental Association. He is a clinical professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery in the UCSF School of Dentistry.
