Dr. Arun Sharma serves as a prosthodontist, or specialist in developing artificial replacements for parts of the mouth and jaw, for head and neck cancer patients as well as for patients of the UCSF Craniofacial Center. In addition to treating patients, he is a clinical professor and director of the residency program in prosthodontics at the UCSF School of Dentistry.
Sharma is a diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists and the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics. He is a member of the International College of Prosthodontists, International Society for Maxillofacial Rehabilitation, Pacific Coast Society for Prosthodontics, American Dental Association and California Dental Association. He has contributed to seven textbooks and authored many articles.
Sharma earned his dental degree from the University of Bombay in 1983 and a master's degree in prosthetic dentistry at the University of London. He completed a prosthodontic residency at UCSF and a maxillofacial prosthetic residency at UCLA Medical Center.
