Dr. Alice Goodwin, DDS, PhD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Orofacial Sciences at the UCSF School of Dentistry. She completed the combined DDS and PhD program in Oral & Craniofacial Sciences at UCSF. She pursued the residency in Orthodontics at UCSF as well and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics. She is also a member of the American Association of Orthodontists and American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association.
Dr. Goodwin’s clinical and research work are aimed at better understanding the biology underlying craniofacial anomalies in order to improve treatment for individuals with facial differences in the clinic. To that end, Dr. Goodwin is a member of the team at the UCSF Craniofacial Clinic, and she has an active research laboratory that studies the molecular mechanisms of secondary palate and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) development in order to understand what goes wrong in cleft palate and TMJ disorders utilizing mouse models.
Dr. Goodwin treats both adults and children in her faculty practice at the UCSF School of Dentistry. Her practice is guided by the most current research in the field of orthodontics, and she brings her enthusiasm for new knowledge and technology to her patient care. She strives to provide comprehensive, individualized care for her patients, with a focus on optimal oral health, function, and esthetics.
