Your health is our No. 1 priority. Whether you are coming for a dental checkup or other procedure, rest assured that we have precautions in place to protect your health and are open to care for all of your oral health needs.
Precautions in place at UCSF Dental Center:
- Prescreening and Testing: All patients coming to UCSF Dental Center undergo COVID-19 screening over the phone before their appointment and some may be asked to take a COVID-19 test. UCSF Dental Center has a dedicated facility for COVID-19 testing which is free of charge to patients. Additional screening checks take place upon entry to our facilities, at check-in and again in the dental treatment area. We also require that all employees and individuals entering our hospitals and clinics be screened prior to entry.
- Masking and Personal Protective Equipment: Face coverings are required at all times in campus spaces and surgical masks are required in our clinical facilities. If you don’t have a surgical mask, one will be provided to you upon entry to the clinic. Our staff and providers are required to wear surgical masks or additional Personal Protective Equipment at all times.
- Physical Distancing: We have taken a number of measures to ensure six feet of physical distance can be maintained at all times. This includes limiting the number of people allowed in our facilities and reducing occupancy in waiting rooms, restrooms and elevators. Physical distancing reminder stickers and signs have been installed throughout our facilities to remind everyone to keep a safe distance.
- Infection Prevention: Our clinics are cleaned and disinfected rigorously throughout the day, following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) infection prevention guidelines. Rest assured that procedures are performed in a sterile environment using sterilized equipment. We have installed plexi-glass dividers at check-in desks, additional barriers between dental treatment areas and circulate fresh air in our building multiple times per hour. Additional measures include use of pre-procedure mouth rinses and high-speed suction.
- Telehealth: Some of our clinics offer telehealth appointments as an alternative to in-person visits. We will walk you through how to access the secure technology to complete your visit. Inquire with your clinic if your visit can be conducted virtually.
